Training and Mentoring

***WillisPalmer has merged with ISWA Ltd as of the 1st April 2017.

Both WillisPalmer and ISWA are long standing businesses which have collaborated extensively in the past. We hold the same core values and aim to provide services which are child focussed, quality driven and are offered at value for money to local authorities and others.

Together, we will become the largest independent social work agency in the UK, thus offering a large geographical spread, an increased pool of practitioners, wider expertise, and a development allowing for economies of scale.*** Click here to visit the WillisPalmer website

  • Mentoring

Our mentoring service supports the development of frontline children’s social workers and managers in order to deliver a safe, consistent and effective provision to children and families. This allows for service enhancement within the local authority which can be measured in terms of improved outcomes. The benefit of the service is the creative use of highly experienced external staff who bring additional skills and perspectives to the authority without the need for the expense and responsibility of recruitment and employment.

Our practitioners have extensive experience and expertise in child protection, parenting and risk assessment, adoption and fostering, direct and therapeutic work with children, interventions with children with disabilities and their families, and Family Group Conferencing.

The mentoring, typically lasting around 24 weeks, can involve a range of methods including:

    ·       Advice and Guidance.

    ·       Teaching.

    ·       Tasks for practice reflection.

    ·       Role Modelling.

    ·       Action Learning Sets.

Formats used include one to one sessions, email, telephone, e-learning and group learning.
